About our playing field...
After many months of toil, consultations and form filling, I am delighted to say we have managed to obtain some funding for our Play Area. The new Basketball Stand was installed during the summer and we hope the children are enjoying this. Unfortunately the net was ripped off after only a couple of weeks.
The large piece of equipment will be restored and new rubber flooring installed by Kerrier District Council, with the help of a grant from the Big Lottery. We have also obtained funding from other sources to install some new pieces, so hopefully, by next summer the children will have a lovely new Play Area. LET US HOPE IT WILL NOT BE VANDALIZED!!!
We have also been informed by Kerrier that the whole Playing Field will be designated as a Dog Free area, which I know will be disappointing to people who use this area to exercise their dogs, but will be good news for the children who play there.
Carharrack Allotments
This has been a disappointing year for allotment holders. The freak weather earlier in the year ruined many crops and those that survived were not as good as usual.
We now have a waiting list of 14 people who are keen to grow their own fruit and veg. We have marked out new plots on areas that had been overgrown and hope to accomodate most people by March of 2008. You can still put your name down for a plot if you are interested!
Dave Tedd from St Day was given first and second prizes for his Allotments by Carharrack Parish Council. Well done Dave!!
Everyone is busy now getting their plots ready for next year - lets hope it will be more successful than this one!!
